Alycia Lane, co-anchor of "Today in LA," was honored for her writing on "The Angel," which she reported and wrote. Lane's report focuses on the lives of Jamie and Stephanie Katzman as they discovered their young son's diagnosis of Angelman Syndrome.

Stimulus Funds Support Angelman Syndrome Research

The National Institutes of Health through the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health & Human Development award the NLML a one year American Recovery Reinvestment Act Award for the project titled "Novel Therapeutic Strategies for Treatment of Angelman Syndrome".

Dr Weeber is nominated to the Rare Disease Research Hall of Fame for his work probing the molecular machanisms underlying Angelman Syndrome.

$10M Grant to Tackle Alzheimer's Disease Mystery

The NL&ML is part of a team of researchers from five institutions led by Mary Jo LaDu, PhD awarded an NIH Program grant to examine the biology of the most important risk factor in Alzheimer's Disease, the cholesterol-carrying protein apolipoprotein E (apoE), and its receptors in the central nervous system.

Dr Weeber advocates for Angelman Sydrome in Australia

The Angelman Syndrome Association, Smile Foundation, Mater Hospital and Children's Hospital of Westmead hosted seminars and discussion forums with Dr Weeber for clinicians, scientists and parents in Brisbane and Sydney. The Mater Children's Hospital in Brisbane setting up DNA sequencing for individuals without a confirmed genetic diagnosis is just one of the exciting outcomes of his visit.

The NL&ML moves to the Johnnie B. Byrd, Sr. Alzheimer's Center and Research Institute

Dr Weeber along with three other Research Faculty of the USF College of Medicine relocate their operations to join existing USF-Byrd researchers at the Institute to maximize research synergies, centralize core resources and create an Alzheimer's and related dementias hub at USF.

Dr Weeber accepts invitation to chair new foundation's Scientific Advisory Board

The Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics (FAST) worked with Dr Weeber to recruit premier physicians and research scientists to the Foundation's Scientific Advisory Board.

NLML's genetic rescue of the AS mouse model receives international distinction

Angelman Syndrome research by USF Health neuroscientist Edwin Weeber, PhD, and collaborators, published last year in Nature Neuroscience, was chosen as the Scientific Highlight of the Year by the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS).
