3C-SiC Neuronal Activation and Electrophysiology

We have designed a 64 electrode device to test 3C-SiC and other electrode materials. Early experiemnts utilized a device constructed from 3C-SiC and gold. PC12 cells were induced to differentiate into peripheral neurons and after 7 days in vitro the cells were activated with electrical signals driven by the device. Calcium sensitive flourescent dye was used to observe resultant calcium influx into the neurons.
